Artists

Marcelo Rueda - Co-founder and former Artistic Director of Danza  Común, www.danzacomun.com, holds a BFA in Sociology from Colombia’s National University and a Certificate of Professional Studies from the Jose Limón Dance Foundation.
Between 2004-2006 received grants from the Fulbright Commission to study technique and choreography in New York City, and was invited as a Guest Dancer for the “Missa Brevis” revival project by the Jose Limón Dance Company.
In 2007 was selected by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) as Artist-in-Residence to develop his own choreography for the Darpana Academy of Performing Arts in Ahmedabad, India. In New York worked with choreographers Christopher Williams, Geraldine Cardiel, Lawrence Goldhuber and lovely Jeremy Nelson. In Philadelphia has worked with Kathleen Hermesdorf, Sebastienne Mundheim and recently with beloved and admired Marianela Boán as a member of BoanDanz Action. Mr. Rueda has performed in several international festivals and venues such as the VII International Dance Season (World Dance Alliance -WDA & International Dance Council -CID) UNESCO in Colombia; XX Festival de México en el Centro Histórico and XIX International Contemporary Dance Festival at San Luis Potosí in Mexico;XII International Dance Festival in Maracaibo and XIV, XVI, XVII, XIX Young Choreographer’s Festival in Carácas, Venezuela;Festival ANTILOPE 99 at La Chaux de Fonds in Switzerland; Mexico NOW Festival, Dance New Amsterdam, Joyce Soho Presents and Danspace Project at St. Mark’s Church in New York and 2008 Philadelphia Live-Arts Festival in the U.S.He has been teaching dance professionally since 1997 to different audiences including actors and dancers from universities and high schools. Rueda is currently an MFA candidate and a Future Faculty Fellow in the dance department in the Boyer College of Music and Dance at Temple University.

Lisa Marie Patzer - As a video and new media artist, Lisa Marie has been working with digital video since 1999.  Holds a MA in Education from John F. Kennedy University, CA and a certificate in Max/MSP/Jitter programming from Harvest Works, Digital Media Arts Center, NY. In 2002, was awarded an artist’s grant to present her work at the Interdisciplinary Landscapes; Post Feminism and The Arts conference in Northampton, UK and in 2004 received the Rocky Mountain Women's Institute Artist in Residency Grant, Denver, Colorado. Her video work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally, most recently at the Slought Foundation and the Institute of Contemporary Art, Philadelphia.  Other collaborative productions include Tinker’s Stew and wate, with composer Sean Brady and 1…2…3…4…, with musician Matthjis Kouw sponsored by Promethean Theater, Denver, Colorado.  Lisa Marie's work has been exhibited at several select galleries including The Lab, SF, CA, Victory Media Plaza, Dallas, TX, Emmanuel Gallery, Denver, CO, Art Space 7, Lakewood, CO, 7a*11d, Toronto, Canada, Eyedrum, Atlanta, GA, INPORT, Talinin, Estonia, and Andenken Gallery, Denver, CO.  Lisa Marie is currently an MFA candidate in the Film and Media Arts department in School of Communications and Theater at Temple University.

Performers

Gregory Holt- is a freelance dancer moving heartily around Philly.  He is a core member of the collaborative Green Chair Dance Group, and also dances with Marcelo Rueda and several other local choreographers. He has made dance films with fellow dancer An Kaler, which have been shown in numerous international queer and dance film festivals. With a strong interest in improvisation and shared authorship, he has performed with many provisional, virtual, and experiemental groups. He teaches seminars in dance composition at the Institute for Dance Art in Linz, Austria.

Stephen Holt- has always enjoyed the creative, collaborative process of dance since his first dance
projects as a student at Swarthmore College, where he mostly trained in Kathak, and mostly performed in Contemporary styles. Since, he has performed locally in the Asian Arts Initiative and Philadelphia
LiveArts festival, and abroad in Linz, Austria. He also enjoys aerial silks and capoeira. Stephen also teaches Spanish at Philadelphia's High School of the Future.

Daniele Paloumpis - is a dancer, choreographer, video artist and teacher.  Graduating from Hollins University in 2006, Daniele holds a  B.A. in Dance and English. Recent projects include dancing for Jen McGinn, Emily Wexler and Nina Winthrop. Daniele’s work has been shown through Movement Research at Judson Church (NY), Studio 34, FLUXspace, and the 2009 Philadelphia GLBT Arts Festival (PA), and Hollins University’s Fall Dance Gathering (VA). Additionally, Daniele looks forward to presenting a new work at Dance Conversations at the Flea on November 3rd.

Lindsey Martin - received her BFA in Photography and Film from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond in 2005 and is currently a third year MFA student in the Film and Media Arts program at Temple University. Her experimental narrative film, stop animation and puppetry addresses topics such as gender identity, body image, and the microcosms of family structure. Lindsey enjoys describing human relationships through movement and a direction style that focuses (non) actors as conduits of feeling. Her influences do not seem to be directly of the art world but more a melange of day to day life experiences.

Collaborators

Chris Vecchio - In the early 1990s Chris Vecchio began creating active devices, installations, and interventions in an effort to better understand the relationship between man and technology. His creations serve as props that precipitate interaction with, and encourage dialog about, technology. He is particularly interested in the emotional history of applied science, the narrative potential of electronic circuitry, and the use of ambiguous but suggestive user interfaces to generate new modes of interaction. Chris holds BS and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University and has over 20 years of analog, digital, and software design experience. Over the course of the past 10 years his work has been exhibited frequently in both the US and Europe. He is currently on the Board at Nexus, Foundation for Today's Art and works as an independent consultant specializing in medical ultrasound and interactive design.

Carolina del Hierro is a native of Cali, Colombia. She holds a BFA in Anthropology from Universidad de los Andes (Colombia). She has been trained extensively in dance, and in the United States has attended different classes at Limón Institute and Movement Research in New York City. She has shown her work in Colombia, India and United States. She is very excited to work in this project and to experience the interactivity implied in it. Currently, she is completing an MFA in dance and choreography at Temple University.

Manuel Gamboa is a composer, sound engineer and musical producer born in Bogotá, Colombia, and has worked with several dance choreographers like Beto Perez director of BARRO ROJO from Mexico, Rafael Gonzales director of ESPACIO ALTERNO from Venezuela, Charles Vodoz director de Compagnie PSOAS from Switzerland, Mariangel Romero from Mexico for the 2005 trinational Mexico-Colombia-Venezuela Arts Grants and several other important choreographers from Latin America including Marcelo Rueda  and his former dance group Danza Comun from Colombia, composing original music and audio arrangements for the dance performances.  Mr. Gamboa has published his new production ROOT BOY and you can find it at http://www.myspace.com/dubkillercombo.
